My Story and Yours

My name is Dustin. I have Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, a chronic kidney disease, as well as colitis, sinusitis, dermatitis, and diabetes mellitus. My chronic diseases have impacted every part of my life. They continue to shape my life in different ways.

With my combined experiences and by talking to many others living with chronic diseases, I created this website as a guidebook for navigating a life with chronic diseases.

I include strategies for finding the right doctor for you, dealing with your disease both mentally and physically, how to get the right treatments, working with medical insurance and many other tips. This is all found in the Guides page.

I want to preface this by saying this is not a one-size-fits-all set of instructions. You or your loved one may not experience things the same as I have. You may have a “better” experience and you likely will have your own set of struggles.

Whether you are young or old, learning to live with a chronic disease is hard. It can feel very lonely, and you may feel like you don’t have someone to talk to that will understand. However, there are many support groups out there.

The Resources page provides links to advocacy organizations and people working to better the lives of chronic disease sufferers. You may find an organization that speaks to your own talents, as writing spoke to me.
